INTRODUCTION

The club was started in 2003.  Since then we have gone from strength to strength.   For our 2005/06 season there were a total of 11 boys teams in the Under 8 [U8] (3 Teams), U9 (2 Teams) , U10 (2 Teams), U11, U12, U13 and U14 age groups, together with 2 girls teams, one each in the U10 and U12 age groups.  For the 2007/08 season we have 16 teams with a new U8 team and a new U12 girls team.

The club has a simple philosophy:

Football    Smiley Face   "To train children in the game of
football in order to develop their
           football skills and social skills"
    Smiley Face   Football

The policies of the club are detailed under the Club Constitution.  This outlines the key points of the Clubs Constitution and shows its development towards gaining the Football Association's Charter Mark in April 2005.   We are proud to be registered members of Durham County Football Association and the English Football Association.

We also play in the Russell Foster Youth Leagues (probably one the most successful of its kind in the UK).  Games are played throughout the wider Tyne & Wear area, with all Small Sided games taking place at venues kindly hosted by Sunderland City Council and the Nissan Motor Company.

All of our managers and coaches undergo successful Criminal Records Bureau checks.  Twenty of our Coaches and Assistant Coaches have successfully passed the Football Associations Level 1 Coaching Certificate and two have also passed their Level 2 Coaching Certificate.  All of our club Coaches are Football Association registered Coaches.

Deerness Valley F.C. runs teams for boys and girls from 7 to 16 years old.  The managers, coaches and fans of the squads are made up of supportive parents who work within the club rules to develop the child's total ability.   Each year we run an introduction day for new boys and girls in the 6 to 8 year old age groups.  We need new parents to step forward and run these new teams.   If you feel you can run a squad please contact the Chairman.

The younger age groups are mixed sex and play 7-a-side football (known as Small Sided Football in the Russell Foster Youth Leagues).   When they reach U11, the girls; in accordance with Football Association Guidelines, are separated into individual squads and the boys likewise.

At U11 they play 11-a-side football and the children are grouped by ability.   We try and place all teams in league divisions that are of a similar level so they can play friendly competitive football.

CLUB COLOURS

The Club has kitted every team out in the same colours of dark orange shirts, with navy blue shorts and socks.  The shirts and shorts are loaned to the player by the club and are to be returned at the end of each season.  In order to assist the managers, parents and/or guardians are requested to launder the children's strips.  Any unreturned kit has to be paid for.

SPONSORSHIP

Deerness Valley F.C. welcomes squads having our team shirts sponsored by a company, or even an individual or consortium [where and whenever appropriate].  This is of considerable assistance in the club maintaining a low level of team player parental, or guardian, contribution towards subs (no pun intended).  Like any charitable setup, capital contributions are always much appreciated and will assist us in building the esteem of the players, teams and club.  More "coal in our boiler" to fuel the future.  This element of contribution should be purchased via our Club Secretary, to ensure that the new club logo is adorned on all of our tops, in accordance with the current Football Association regulations.  Sponsors are to be invoiced, so as to pay the suppliers directly, which helps minimise our costs and assists sponsors with their accountancy.

For further details please contact our Club Secretary.
